The closer we are to the elections, the more absurd the world seems to be. We are at a point where by reading the accounts of different people, you must come to a conclusion that we do not live in a uniform reality. How else can you describe such discrepancy in impressions: one side believing that the Trump x Rogan interview was the best ever, while the other side believing that it was the worst ever. Objectively only one or neither statement can be true. Subjectively you can lean towards either side. But to arrive at a point where subjectivity puts us at two ends of a spectrum means that reason has lost.
Propaganda has won. As a rationalist you cannot trust opinions on the internet. Opinions should be a derivative of reality. That way you could do an integral of opinion to arrive at reality. That is no longer possible. Integrals of opinions create a distinct set of realities with some of them so different that it is seemingly impossible that opinions were derived from observing the same event.
I am venting a bit with this weave (thanks Trump for naming the concept), but not without aim. This week I will not focus on specific market. I could do a painfully long article on US elections to arrive at 40-60 odds for either candidate. I could do an even longer article on each swing state with detailed poll analysis with early vote historical comparison etc. etc., but I would not arrive at anything novel that you could not read in one of Nate Silver’s article.
Watching the political sphere this last few weeks, seeing the Israeli retaliation (if you trade, I hope that you also trade striking oil market and took some profits from retaliation market as I said i the last 2 articles) and feeling the weight of the world in conflict I will do a bit of venting at the state of affairs, what caused it and what will come out of this. Prediction nonetheless, just not about specific market.
I invite you to read this piece and get to know me and my opinions. Among all the noise, a rationalistic take is quite refreshing - check it out yourself and subscribe below.
Are we living in different realities?
I cannot be the only one amazed by this difference. But where did it come from? How did we arrive at this point? And most importantly, can we go back? Today we will venture into a scary topic of social engineering and its consequences.
