HIVE World Cup: Day 2 Recap
The winners keep on winning
Hey traders! PROPHET NOTES is cooperating with HIVE on the HIVE World Cup tournament. From now on, until the end of the tournament, you can expect a daily coverage of:
Best Trade of the Day
Worst Trade of the Day
Group Standings
and more as we advance to later stages of the tournament.
We are on day 2 and some of the traders we’ve highlighted yesterday continued their winning streak. We also have some very unexpected performances, especially in Group L. Let’s do a quick recap of the last 24 hours.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Day
The best trade of the day goes to MoralOrel. He bought Trump to physically sign the USxIran MOU for only 2.8c and held it all the way to 99.9c for a cool $307 profit. He is now the leader of the highly competitive Group A.
Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Day
The worst trade of the day goes to PityokH, another weather trader. Not only did he manage to lose $191 predicting the highest temperature in the NYC, he didn’t manage to have a single good trade since the tournament started.
Let’s hope it’s just negative variance and PityokH can make it back in the next days.
Group Standings
Group A
Group A continues to be extremely competitive, with two traders more than doubling their starting bankroll already.
MoralOrel, our best trade of the day winner is closely followed by 0X357, who continues to predicting the highest temperatures across the world with an amazing precision.
HondaCivic also deserves an honorable mention. A well-known weather trader lost almost 10% of his bankroll on the first day, only to run it back to a $200 profit. Can he win Group A? We’ll see, but he’s on a great track to challenge the top two spots.
Group B
Group B is full of contrasts. At the top we have airdropper2, the overall leader of the tournament who is sitting comfortably with his $905 in profit already! It seems that his strategy now is to wait it out and cash in the 15 points for winning the first week.
Behind him, there’s a fierce competition for the second place between HotSkulll and WCjavi. The former is trying his best on a selection of AI markets while the latter is trading on weather markets.
With a few days till the end of the first round, they are hoping to catch airdropper2, but the time is short.
Group C
Group C sports PityokH, the winner of the worst trade of the day. However, at the top of the table there’s a fierce competition between ClydeCash, kemuruu_ and whiggeries, all with over $150 in profit already.
Kemuruu_ made it big on England to win with Croatia, cashing in $136 on a single trade. Can he keep it up, or will he give back the second spot to whiggeries, who tries to make it trading political markets?
Group D
Group D continues to be fairly silent, with only 5 traders fighting for points to qualify. Green, with over $570 profit to his name, sits comfortably at the top spot.
Green continued his strategy of swing trading volatile markets, increasing his profits from Claude Fable market to $331. He’s currently on the 7th place overall as he continues to make a name for himself.
Group E
Group E continues to be a one man show, with 0xmirza chilling in the first position. He made only (sic!) $50 since yesterday, but it was more than enough to maintain his lead.
However, he may be in for a surprise. Group E is the only group with every trader in profit, suggesting that his competition is not giving up. Chadtarded is a trader to watch here. Despite being in the 7th spot, he already proved he can make it big trading World Cup markets. Who knows, maybe tomorrow we will cover him for the best trade of the day?
Group F
Group F already has one less contender, after XPredicter erased his entire bankroll in the first day. However, there is a fierce competition at the top.
Outside of the leader, Arrth, who consistently trades a wide selection of markets, CoffeLover_pm and EWaves are traders to watch. The former has been trading great, outside of a hiccup on the Portugal-DR Congo game. The latter is a mentions markets trader, who after a slow start, is climbing the leaderboard with outmatched consistency.
Group G
Group G is the one we should expect more from. It sports some of the most popular traders like mangolassi-hive and TheGreekTraderHive. But the pole position belongs to Rex416, who made it big predicting Counter Strike game winner and now has $235 in profit.
However, with such a strong competition he cannot feel safe yet.
Group H
Group H is dominated by Mask4che, a weather trader who had a rough day yesterday, but managed to keep his lead. His Shenzen highest temperature trade almost got him the best trade of the day title.
Another trader to watch in this group is Protrade who managed to avoid big losses and is slowly climbing the profit ladder.
Group I
The one person that really leaves the rest behind is HiveMapper533. He kept his lead and made another $80 yesterday trading politics and sports.
However, the rest of the group avoided big losses and is only one big trade away from catching up.
Group J
BeefSlayer_ leads Group J and is in the second place overall with $817 in profit as he continues his stellar performance trading weather markets. A very consistent performance across various weather markets, with a single win not exceeding $100.
He can be comfortable in the 1st place, but when it comes to the second, we have Hans323 and Gena The Bond Killer, a well-known Polymarket trader, battling for the second place.
Hans323 is yet another weather trader. With daily temperature markets, this competition is a place where they can shine. Gena, in the meantime, runs a more timid strategy, with his biggest win being $30 on Czechia to win with South Africa in the World Cup game.
Group K
In Group K, Splunksy continues to hold the top spot, but he only made $11 yesterday. In the meantime, 0xFudrick made $58 yesterday, trading mostly Nottingham Open tennis.
Just behind him is WeatherOnly, who made almost $80 yesterday trading weather. We expect Group K to be in a fierce competition for the top spot as the first round slowly approaches its end.
Group L
Group L is definitely the least competitive one, with OnlyLuckNoBrain living up to his name and leading the virtually empty group with only $45 profit.
Comfortable, focused, in his lane, he is trading weather markets and not taking any unnecessary risks. He manifested his victory through his name. It pays to be lucky.
Wrap Up
We are on day 2 and most of the winners from day 1 managed to keep up their performance. Will anything change after today? We will see.
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
