HIVE World Cup: Week 1 Recap
Can the leaders keep it up?
Hey traders! PROPHET NOTES is cooperating with HIVE on the HIVE World Cup tournament. Outside of daily recaps, we are also doing weekly summaries of trading rounds with:
Best Trade of the Week
Worst Trade of the Week
Group Standings
and more as we advance to later stages of the tournament.
The first week gave us a lot to work with. Some traders 3x-ed their bankroll, while others managed to lose it all in one trade. However, this week’s losers can be next week’s winners. The format with three weekly rounds allows for more risk and chances are we will have wildly different table a week from now.
But for now, let’s see who made a name for themselves in round 1.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Week
The best trade of the week title belongs to Airdropper2. Despite finishing 4th, they made it big trading Iran markets on the very first day and managed to keep the first spot in the leaderboard in Group B for the whole week. Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Week
The worst trade of the week goes to failstonerPM. They waited the whole week to make the one big trade and failed, as per the nickname:
Not only did they lose it all, but also they are competing in the least competitive Group L. Being breakeven there was enough to secure the podium, making this single trade probably the worst decision of the week.
We hope to see better decision this week!
Group Standings
Group A
The winner of the first week of trading in Group A is 0X357. This weather trader has been very consistent and managed to more than 3x their bankroll with $1,002 in profit.
The second place belongs to MoralOrel, who’s been trading a variety of political and culture markets for $724 profit. Finally, the podium is closed by Need10kdollors, a new addition to the leaderboard. They’ve been predicting World Cup games exclusively, making $632 in just 3 trades.
Group A has been extremely competitive. With such extreme results though, we might see a lot of volatility coming into Week 2.
Who’s your favorite in this group?
Group B
Another extremely competitive group. So much so, that the winner of the last Hive Tournament, Mosesfan, is only 6th!
However, the winning strategy of the top 3 revolved around making a one big trade, rather than consistent, smaller predictions all throughout the week. Can they repeat their success in Week 2? We’ll see.
The winner of Week 1, Airdropper2, has made it big on the very first day and decided to play it safe. Same goes for our second place, Brokie, who needed only one trade in the middle of the week. The third place goes to PolyTrader2026, who needed to predict just 2 World Cup games to secure the spot.
Group C
Group C has some of the most consistent traders in the Week 1, whiggeries. They made $958 across 10 markets, trading solely politics. An impressive performance, epsecially since other trader sat the top focus mostly on the World Cup, weather or esports.
The second place belongs to ClydeCash, who traded a wide selection of markets. Almost $400 behind is ibelievethatwewillwinplease, another example of manifestation that trades mostly World Cup markets.
And when it comes to consistency, MuddyRC is an example of one, but in a bad way. They managed to lose every single prediction they made, erasing 100% of the bankroll in Week 1. We hope to see their luck turn in Week 2.
Group D
Group D belongs to green, who after making it big, correctly decided to play it safe and cash in their profit for 15 points. The second place belongs to bernardbulletin, who managed to narrowly overtake TSPoodle in the last day of trading. After a mediocre performance trading politics, he made it predicting the World Cup to beat TSPoodle, a trader who focused on mentions markets.
It’s a rather uneventful group compared to previous ones, but who knows… Maybe Week 2 will bring a lot of surprises.
Group E
Group E is another mellow group, where only the top 2 made some serious profit. Week 1 belongs to Mirza, who needed only one big trade to secure the win. They’ve been exclusively trading World Cup markets.
Second place belongs to n0rulesnvr, who traded Makersfield by-election for $122 in profit. Lastly, the third place belongs to prof1novich, whose $15 in profit from one weather market was enough to secure the podium.
Group F
Another competitive group, although on a bit smaller scale. Here, a battle for the first place ended at the very end, with Fuentes99 overtaking Arrth in the last hours of trading. Congrats, his sports-focused strategy beat Arrth’s generalist approach.
The third spot belongs to CoffeLover_pm, who’s also been trading sports.
On the other side of the leaderboard we have XPredicter, who managed to lose it all in the very first day. We hope to see their fortunes turn this week!
Group G
Group G is an extremely interesting case. Not only do we have a trader in the third place with a negative P&L, but also we have Rex416, who fell from the first place to the fifth, losing $651 from their ATH in the process!
Thus the winner of Group G is xeny-, who made majority of his bankroll trading esports markets in the very first day of the tournament. The second place belongs to Kween, a weather trader. The third place, with a stunning -$122 P&L, belongs to a well-know trader mangolassi-hive.
And an honorable mention goes to TheGreekTraderHive, who despite losing his entire bankroll, managed to get 5 points in the first round.
Group H
In Group H, Mask4che has kept us on the edge of our seats as his volatile performance almost left him at the fourth place. But in the last hours, he managed to make it back to the first - weather trading can be extremely volatile!
The second place in this group belongs to a well-know trader aenews, who made it big on the Toy Story 5 box office market. The third place belongs to Protrade, a weather trader ho managed to beat HilelTheElder by just $2.
We expect a lot from this Group this week.
Group I
Group I started a bit slow, but it ended up being quite volatile. The second-place-holder from Day 1, shiny, ended up being dead last with almost 90% of their bankroll erased.
But we had little doubt on who will win the group. HiveMapper533 has held the top spot all throughout the week and is cashing in 15 points with almost $350 in profit.
The second place belongs to probabilitygod, who after a slow start, made it big on Iran agreeing to end uranium enrichment market. The third place belongs to GodRama_, who made it back to green in the last hours of trading.
Group J
Group J without a doubt belongs to BeefSlayer_, the overall winner of Week 1. This weather trader has been on a roll since the start and the first spot is surely well-deserved.
The group overall had stellar performance, with 8 traders in the green. The remaining podium spots though belong to sonix and Foster, both with over $400 in profit to their names.
Despite a slow start, it turned out to be an extremely competitive group. We hope to see more amazing trading from them in Week 2!
Group K
Group K also belongs to a weather trader. With an unambiguous nick, WeatherOnly made over $440 and won 15 points in Week1.
The second place belongs to Splunksy, who traded a wide variety of markets. Just $8 behind them is 0xFudrick, with $256 to their name.
And an honorable mention goes to choppahG, who tried to make it big in the last day and lost it all in the process. We hope to see you back in Week 2 with better luck!
Group L
Finally, in Group L, we had some last minute developments. OnlyLuckNoBrain lost his top spot to PMKFund, but they did manage to hold the second spot with only $21 in profit. The third spot belongs to raffu with a very unimpressive performance as they lost $0.4 throughout the whole week.
The most unexpected performance though belongs to failstonerPM, who lost $466 in a single trade, trying to predict Ecuador – Curaçao World Cup Game
Wrap Up
What a week it was! But HIVE World Cup is only starting. We hope to see a lot of volatility in Week 2 as the top traders will try to maintain their position, while other will go big in hopes to turn their fortunes.
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
