HIVE World Cup: Week 2 Day 1 Recap
How are the Week 1 leaders doing?
Hey traders! We are after Day 1 of the Week 2 of the group phase. We are off to a slow start, but some traders have already made it big (or lost it big)!
On the top of the leaderboard there are a lot of familiar names, but we do have some new appearances. Can they keep it up this week? Or will we them drop it at some point?
Let’s do a quick recap of the last 24 hours and find out.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Day
The best trade of the day goes to sonix, as there is some technical problem with ithinkthisisgod.
Sonix started off strong predicting correctly that Argentina will win with Austria, for a cool $243. Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Day
The worst trade of the day goes to shiny, who managed to lose $268 on Norway vs Senegal World Cup game.
Not all is lost though. We hope to see shiny shine in the next 4 days!
Group Standings
Group A
Group A started off strong. Last week’s leader, 0X357 had a strong start, only to run it all back and end up in the 5th place with $35 profit.
In the first place we have Joker_Poly with $182 in profit already, trading the World Cup and AI markets.
In the second place we have a new appearance. Levi is focusing on the World Cup markets, recently making $109 predicting Japan vs Turkey spread. The third place belongs to penguin_pmkt who made over $100 predicting Starmer resignation.
Overall, all the traders are still very close to each other and everything can happen by the end of Week 2.
Group B
In the meantime, Group B is off to a slow start. We have only two traders active, with HotSkulll in the lead with just $11 in profit.
More interesting though is the case of 0xAmad, who has already managed to lose $156. Majority of the losses comes from a single market: trading over/under on Argentina vs Austria World Cup game, where 0xAmad managed to lose $109.
But we still have 4 days to go and who knows, maybe they can redeem themselves.
Group C
In Group C we can already see some familiar names at the top of the leaderboard. ClydeCash is leading the group with $24 in profit. They continue their strong performance on the World Cup markets.
In the second place we have a new face. ChudTrades has $13 in profit after successfully predicting that Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t play for Boston Celtics in the next NBA season. In the third place we have whiggeries who is off to a slow start after finishing third overall in Week 1.
Group D
After the first 24 hours there’s barely anything to cover in Group D. Green, the last week’s leader, is down $1 suggesting that we are yet to see any big action.
For now, bernardbulletin is leading the group with just below $10 in profit to his name.
Group E
Same can be said about Group E, where we only have two traders active, both in the red!
However, they are down less than $20 and we are ye to see first trades from last week’s leaders. For now picklepredictor leads the group with -$16 P&L.
We hope to have more to cover in tomorrow’s recap.
Group F
In Group F we finally have more action. CoffeLover_pm is leading the group with $26 to their name, followed by a new appearance, czxc319861 with $20 P&L.
In the third place we have Arrth who finished second last week. However, the most interesting things happened at the bottom of the leaderboard. Last week’s winner, Fuentes99 has already lost $179 on the World Cup markets.
We hope to see Fuentes99 close the gap as Week 2 has only started.
Group G
Group G has some mistake in the leaderboard, as ithinkthisisgod has not in fact made $1,138 in a single trade after checking their profile. We hope to see the Hive team resolve this issue soon.
Other than that, the group is off to a slow start with two other traders losing over $150 in a single day.
Group H
Group H is lead by a well-know trader, aenews, who’s made almost $18 in the first 24 hours.
However, the most interesting results are on the other side of the leaderboard. Two traders - HilelTheElder and Mask4che - have already managed to lose over $150. Bad days happen, especially on the weather markets so we expect Mask4che to climb up in the next 4 days.
Group I
Group I has some familiar names at the top of the leaderboard. Luish is in the lead, with $16 to their name, followed closely by HiveMapper533, the last week’s leader.
On the bottom of the leaderboard, though, we have shiny, who’s already managed to lose $315, proving that it’s easy to bet big, but a lot harder to win big. Their biggest loss was from trading spread in Norway vs Senegal World Cup game, where they gave back $268
Group J
Group J, contrary to the last few, proves to be extremely competitive. It already has three traders with over $150 in profit.
Sonix leads the pack with $314 to their name after correctly predicting individual players’ goals in the World Cup. They are followed by PeterParker3Hive, who is trading sports and mentions markets. Finally, the third place belongs to the last week’s overall leader, BeefSlayer_, who currently has $154 in profit.
On the bottom of the leaderboard we have Hans323, who’s already managed to lose $287 trading weather markets.
Group K
We have no changes at the top of the leaderboard in Group K. WeatherOnly continues to beat everyone with consistent weather predictions.
On the other side of the leaderboard we have technical error with 0xFudrick. We hope to see it fixed by tomorrow.
Group L
Finally, it’s also been a slow start for Group L, where only two traders are active, both with over $50 in losses. You need to pump those number up guys!
Wrap Up
That’s all for today. We hope to see a lot more trades in the next 24 hours. Depending o the time zone, traders had only a few hours to trade - we shall see more action after today, especially with such a strong game calendar:
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
