HIVE World Cup: Week 2 Day 2 Recap
No more games
Hey traders! After a slow start, Day 2 showed us who is worthy of advancing to the knockout stage. We can already see some performances that outshine all of the best trades in Week 1.
As time is getting shorter the top traders are fully focused on staying in the top 3 and earning points to qualify for the knockouts. Who made it big today?
Let’s do a quick recap of the last 24 hours and find out.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Day
The best trade of the day goes to HondaCivic, a well-know weather trader. They made over $1,000 predicting weather in London and now hold the pole position across all traders in Week 2.
Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Day
The worst trade of the day goes to UnyieldingGrit, who not only managed to lose $411 predicting various outcomes of the England vs Ghana World Cup game, but also is the first trader in Week 2 to erase their entire bankroll:
We hope to see you redeem yourself in Week 3!
Group Standings
Group A
Group A is dominated by HondaCivic. After a slow start in Week 1, this trader is now living up to their fame, having over $1,223 in profit after 2 days of trading.
In the second place we have Joker_Poly with $344 in profit. After finishing 4th in Week 1, they are looking to keep the spot in hopes to qualify to the knockout stage. In the third place, almost $200 behind, we have penguin_pmkt who is hoping to make up for lack of points in Week 1.
It’s an extremely competitive group with seven traders in the green. Last week’s top 2, 0X357 and MoralOrel are placed 8th and 9th, showing how hard it is to keep up with the top performers.
Group B
Group B is a walk in the park compared to Group A. There’s only one trader with profit above $50. TheNooMast made almost $200 correctly predicting the outcome of the Norway vs Senegal World Cup game.
In the second place we have WCjavi with $23 in profit and in the third place we have the last Hive tournament winner, Mosesfan, with $14 in profit so far.
We are yet to see some big trades from the last week’s leaders. Airdropper2 and Brokie are sitting on a small profit, but we expect them to go big at some point to catch up with the current leaders.
Group C
We continue to see strong performance from ClydeCash in Group C. With $341 in profit, they are far ahead anyone else in the group. They finished second in Week 1, putting them as a strong favorite to advance to the knockout stage.
Behind them we have ChudTrades with $130 in profit. In the third place we have whiggeries, the last week’s winner who is now taking it slow with only $34 in profit.
So far we didn’t see any major blunders, showing that after Week 1 traders are more conscious of the risk they are taking.
Group D
Group D is dominated by bernardbulletin. A strong contender for the best trade of the day, they made it big trading NY-07 Democratic primary. With $804 in profit, they can be almost certain to finish in the first place and collect 15 points, adding to the 12 they collected last week.
In the second place we have PROPHET (ie. me!) and just behind me we have the last week’s winner, green, who has a modest profit of $32.
We hope that bernardbulletin’s stellar performance won’t discourage other traders from trying to challenge them for the top spot.
Group E
Mirza continues to dominate Group E. After winning Week 1, they continue their exceptional performance trading World Cup markets for over $300 profit in two days of trading.
Behind him we have Pristine10 with $37 in profit. Other two traders, picklepredictor and n0rulesnvr, are in the red. Inactive traders in this group should take the opportunity to go in and take the easy points!
Group F
Group F has CoffeLover_pm in the lead. They made majority of their profits trading NYC Democratic Congressional primaries and now sit comfortably in the first place with $253 in profit.
In the second place we have hhumpsfps, however for now they are flagged for review. Behind them we have Arrth with only $43 in profit.
The last week’s winner, Fuentes99, is having a bad week. They are in the last place, but they lost only $84 - we see them being able to easily challenge the leaders considering their performance in Week 1.
Group G
Group G has only three active traders, but it is extremely volatile. Rex416, who was in the last place yesterday, is now safely in the first place with $661 in profit. They made it big trading NYC Democratic Congressional primary.
In the second place we have Kween, a weather trader. The leaderboard is closed by xeny-, the last week’s winner with only $39 in profit.
Group H
Mask4che is once again leading Group H after successfully predicting weather across the globe.
The other two podium places, aenews and Protrade, didn’t really trade in the last 24 hours making room for inactive traders to come in and get these points.
At the same time, HilelTheElder, a strong contender for the worst trade of the day, lost over $200 predicting England vs Ghana World Cup game. We hope to see this losing streak end soon!
Group I
HiveMapper533 managed to keep their lead, but 0xd1namit is only $1 behind them. The third place, luish, is just $7 behind the top two.
Despite the low P&L, Group I is now extremely competitive. With top 3 traders being within $8 of each other, a single trade can decide who will get the top spot and who will lose their chance to advance to the knockout stage.
Group J
Sonix continues to lead Group J with $332 in profit. They are closely followed by PeterParker3Hive, with $277 in profit. Both traders managed to avoid big losses, contrary to the last week’s winner, BeefSlayer_.
BeefSlayer_ has a volatile week - they briefly occupied the top spot, only to fall back to the third place, only $1 ahead of surfer in the 4th.
The last 3 days will be extremely competitive in this group.
Group K
Group K holds the title for the most traders in the red, including our winner of the worst trade of the day, UnyieldingGrit.
However, there are two worthy traders - WeatherOnly and atteonthephone, both weather traders with over $200 in profit. I can also safely say now that weather traders are completely dominating the tournament, even though we have the World Cup going on. Seemingly even the biggest sporting event in the world is not enough for sports traders to beat weather traders.
Group L
Group L is the least competitive in the whole tournament with only three traders active. Additionally, only two of them are in the profit.
Thonka leads the group with just $25 to their name. It’s a perfect opportunity for all the inactive traders to challenge thonka and get these points!
Wrap Up
After a slow start, Day 2 proved to be extremely competitive, with HondaCivic more than tripling their starting bankroll. However we still have some easy Groups where inactive traders can come in and challenge the leaders.
Do you think the leaders can keep their spots? Or do you see inactive traders coming in big at the end of the week to try and take the points by making one big trade? Let us know in the comments.
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
