HIVE World Cup: Week 2 Day 3 Recap
All or nothing
Hey traders! As Week 2 progresses, some traders are trying to make it big quickly. Some succeed, but others lose it all in a single trade. Thanks to having three weekly stages, we can see who was lucky and who has it in themselves to win the HIVE World Cup. We can also see that weather traders emerge as top contenders for the championship.
Do you think anyone can beat them for the top spot?
Let’s do a quick recap of the last 24 hours and find out.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Day
The best trade of the day goes to Mask4che. This weather trader proved one more time that they belong at the top of the leaderboard. After finishing first in their group in Week 1, now they’ve made over $1,200 predicting temperature in Seoul yesterday.
They’ve beat another weather trader, HondaCivic, who after a phenomenal day yesterday must have gone on a quick break.
Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Day
The worst trade of the day goes to Fuentes99. After winning Week 1 in their group, they wanted to push again for the top spot. However, the Brazil vs Scotland game didn’t go exactly how they thought.
They’ve lost $412 in a single trade and combined with previous losses, they have now erased the entire bankroll, securing the last place in the group.
We hope to see you back at the top in Week 3!
Group Standings
Group A
HondaCivic is resting comfortably at the top of the leaderboard in Group A. They are closely followed by Joker_Poly, who made almost $200 in the last 24 hours trading AI releases and World Cup games.
In the third place we have a new face, Boss_Youzi. They’ve been successfully trading weather markets for $287 in profit.
At the bottom of the leaderboard we have 0X357. The last week’s winner has a bad week, down $267 since the start of Week 2.
Group B
TheNooMast is playing it safe in Group B. After taking the pole position, they’ve been inactive, hoping to cash in 15 points with no risk. However, last week’s winner, Airdropper2, is now trying to catch up with them after making $124 correctly predicting the outcome of the Morocco vs Scotland World Cup game.
In the third place we have Mosesfan, who in fact is not HolyMoses7, but a real fan of him. With only $13 in profit they are yet to match the skill of the last Hive tournament champion.
Group C
Group C has had a quiet day. Two of the leaders - ClydeCash and ChudTrades - made a bit of profit, but the top 3 is still the same.
DeverNoom and wisechinamann switched places (and P&Ls), but still remain far behind the top 2.
Group D
Bernardbulletin is chilling in the first place with $818 in profit, but the battle for the second place has picked up in Group D.
After a slow start, green is pushing ahead and made over $200 in the last 24 hours to beat PROPHET and get the second place.
Outside the top three though there is not much action in the group, making room for latecomers to try and get easy points.
Group E
Group E has been sleeping the last 24 hours as only picklepredictor made $25 and got into green. Outside of Mirza with $309 in profit, all other places are up for grabs if any of the inactive traders decide to come in.
Group F
CoffeeLover_pm continues to dominate Group F, adding $150 to their name in the last 24 hours. The second place still belongs to hhumpsfps, while KeithStarmerHive managed to overtake Arrth for the third place.
However, the most interesting development happened at the bottom of the leaderboard. Fuentes99, the last week’s winner, managed to lose their entire bankroll wrongly predicting Brazil vs Scotland World Cup game.
Group G
Since yesterday Rex416 has added over $400 to their name, securing the lead in a rather uneventful Group G. They’ve been trading a wide variety of markets, from psorts to mentions, and are now one of the best traders of the week.
Group H
Group H is yet another example of a one man show, with Mask4che making over $1,300 since the last recap. Weather traders are truly out of anyones league when it comes to making quick profit.
Group I
Not a lot has happened at the top of the Group I leaderboard. However it does seem that we have a race to the bottom instead.
Since the last recap, two traders - HiveMapper533, the previous leader and GodRama_ - seem to be racing shiny to the bottom. Sadly for them, today the worst trade of the day title was highly competitive as many traders had an especially bad day.
Now the first place belongs to 0xd1namit, a well-know X poster and trader with $127 in profit.
Group J
Group J proves time and again that it is one of the most competitive groups in the whole tournament. After a slow start, BeefSlayer_ is once again occupying the pole position with $761 in profit.
They are closely followed by PeterParker3Hive and sonix, who lead the pack yesterday. All three leaders are either trading weather, mentions or sports markets, showing that some categories give you an advantage in the fast-paced environment of the Hive World Cup.
Group K
Group K is the second group in which traders are a bit confused and seem to be racing to the bottom, rather than to the top. However, as usual, we have a weather trader chilling in the first place.
WeatherOnly is on track to finish first in Group K for the second time and be one step closer to the knockout stage.
Group L
Not a lot has changed in Group L. We still have the same three traders in the leaderboard, with P&Ls that would put them way behind the top 3 in most of the groups.
However, they might be also taking advantage of the inactive group and try to advance to the knockout stage without much effort. Or maybe we will see some of the dormant traders wake up in the last 48 hours and take the win away from this group.
Wrap Up
That’s it for today. As weather traders continue to dominate the leaderboard, others must quickly figure out how to beat them. Otherwise they will face them in the knockout stage and quickly lose.
Can a sports or politics trader win the HIVE World Cup? Or will we see a weather trader as the last man standing? Let us know your pick in the comments.
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
