HIVE World Cup: Week 3 Day 1 Recap
Last week of group stage
Hey traders! It’s Week 3 and traders are battling for the spots in the knockout stage. In this final stretch we will see who has it in themselves to take the risk and move ahead in the HIVE World Cup.
Let’s see who made it big at the end of Week 3 and who is already ahead after 24 hours of Week 3
Let’s do a quick recap of the last 24 hours.
Quick Rules Summary
Traders are now competing in the group phase, in three weekly round. They start every round with a fresh $500 and are ranked against their group by that round's profit. Where they finish earns points — top 10 score, everyone else gets 0.
After 3 weeks, top two traders out of each group (and eight best traders from the third place) advance to knockouts.
Best Trade of the Week 2
Best trade of the week goes to strider_pm, who made $2,000 predicting the highest temperature in Seoul for the second overall place in Week 2.
It was a truly amazing trade, congrats!
Best Trade of the Day
The best trade of the day goes to 0X357. It’s another strong start from this weather trader. This time, they correctly predicted the highest temperature in Miami for $624 in profit.
Congrats!
Worst Trade of the Day
Surprisingly, there were no degen trades since yesterday. Traders are more cautious in Week 3, trying their best to get these points and qualify for the knockout stage.
Group Standings
Group A
Just 24 hours after the start of Week 3, we already have a trader that almost doubled their starting bankroll. 0X357 sits on $489 profit after correctly predicting the highest temperature in Miami.
They are followed by HondaCivic, a fellow weather trader with $153 in profit. In the third place we have penguin_pmkt, with “only” $58 in profit
Group B
Group B already has familiar faces at the top. Mosesfan is living up to their idol, having made $398 in the first 24 hours predicting esports.
The next three places are less than $20 apart, with TheNooMast, C0cocrypto and abcdefmlzy battling for the knockout stage.
Group C
Group C is off to a slow start. We only have 2 traders with minor profit - whiggeries and DeverNoom. We are awaiting more action in this usually competitive group.
Group D
Group D is also off to a slow start. We have our usual top spot holders - bernardbulletin and green, at the top, with ExertoATH also making a tiny profit for the third place.
Based on past weeks, we can be pretty certain on who will advance to the knockout stage.
Group E
Mirza continues to dominate Group E. Having been placed first in the first two weeks of the tournament, they are again at the top with $394 in profit after correctly predicting World Cup games.
Group F
Group F has seen minimal activity in Week 3. Arrth and EWaves made some profit, but they are way behind the top traders. With $58 and $23 in profit respectively, they are still far from being safe in this rather competitive group.
Group G
Another group with a slow start. It is clear that a lot of traders went to touch some grass on Sunday ahead of the last week of the group stage.
Only Rex416 made some trades and enjoys a lead with $12 to their name.
Group H
In Group H we have a battle between sports and weather. Maskache continues to dominate the group trading weather markets for $108 in profit. Just behind them is HilelTheElder, a sports trader with $69 in profit.
As weather traders continue to dominate the tournament, HilelTheElder is one of the outliers that manage to trade the World Cup profitably.
Group I
After a stellar performance at the end of Week 2, strider_pm is once again at the top of their group. With $31 in profit they are way below their last week’s peak, however it’s a good start.
Other traders in the group are mostly inactive, but we expect to have a lot more to say tomorrow.
Group J
Sonix continues to dominate Group J, having already made $255 in profit correctly predicting World Cup games.
Behind them is Foster, with $103 in profit and Securebet with $17 in profit. Leaders are off to a good start, but historically, this group has been extremely competitive and a lot can happen in the next four days.
Group K
Group K is lead by two weather traders - atteonthephone and WeatherOnly - who continue their stellar performance in the third week.
Day after day, these traders show up and make consistent profit on weather markets. Remarkable stuff.
Group L
Group L continues to be a one with the least activity. However, thonka managed to make over $300, putting themselves at the top of the leaderboard. They made bank predicting the release of Trump phone.
Behind them is OnlyLuckBoBrain, whose nick served them well. With $9 in profit and minimal activity they’ve managed to get 20 points already and are on track to qualify to the knockout stage.
Wrap Up
That’s it for today. We are off to a slow start, but some traders have already managed to double their bankroll. The last week of the group stage is looking tense as we expect many traders to try and fight for their place.
See you tomorrow for another HIVE World Cup Recap!
