I was listening to yet another interview with Marina Corina Machado. A week deep into the Venezuela research, it still wasn’t clear to me if the US military will attack Venezuela. And then it hit me. I had the eureka moment I was waiting for, just as I heard the sentence you can read as the title to this article.
Each major development on the global stage is a narrative that needs to be sold to the people it affects. And the better, deeper the narrative, the easier it is to sell it.
All wars were preceded by good narratives - from the original Cold War, through the War on Drugs, up to the recent War on Terror and the Ukraine war. So when I was trying to answer the question whether the US will engage in Venezuela, I was looking not only for the signs on the ground. I was also looking for the narrative being sold and the strategy being implemented. And I found it.
It’s the archetypal underdog story, that will unfold before your eyes in the near future. And it involves a knight on a white horse that will help turn things around
